Deep down, you know you want to take a chance on Anthony Richardson.
I mean look at this guy. A 6’4 quarterback with elite arm talent, he’s probably going to casually run a 4.4 forty this offseason. He’s also got some wiggle to him. For being a pretty big guy, he is shifty. His running style is somewhere between Lamar Jackson’s electric change of direction ability, and Justin Fields, who might be faster in a straight line than just about anyone despite being 6’3 230.
We must start thinking about mobile QBs as “high floor” guys. Typically it’s the pocket passers that get that label, but I disagree with that stereotype.

Even if Anthony Richardson is the worst passer in the league, his mobility will completely transform what a team can do on the ground. If a pocket passer struggles to figure things out, nothing is being elevated. That’s why QBs who can run have a much higher floor than pro style QBs, in my opinion.
But eventually, you do need to develop as a passer. Chicago was amazing carrying the football this season but still hold that first overall pick. But the reason I’m so high on Richardson is that I think he’s much closer to reaching his potential as a field general than people realize.
