They way Murphy wins is unexpected, given his body type. He’s a six foot five, 276 pound defensive end type, but he picks up most of his wins by getting around a tackle’s outside shoulder.
His best trait is his first step. Murphy is explosive out of a four point stance, and quickly gets shoulder to shoulder with the offensive tackle. From there, he uses his long arms to ward off contact, he’s too big to easily push upfield, and Murphy is able to corner well and earn the sack.
Watch his highlights, you’ll mostly see reps like that.
